Behind the scenes: An ethereal “Last Supper”-inspired Christening Celebration
Photography by Jelo Pacana
From the beginning, the vision was clear: ethereal, meaningful, and elevated with subtle references to a “Last Supper”-inspired tablescape that felt reverent without being literal. I worked closely with Siobhan, mom of Sofia whose Christening celebration it was, to bring this idea to life, layering symbolism, softness, and beauty into every detail.
The Vision
We wanted the table to feel abundant and sacred, almost painterly, while still remaining modern and celebratory. Long communal tables anchoredthe space, encouraging connection and togetherness. The room was flooded with natural light, and the NYC skyline views provided the most stunning backdrop.
The Tablescape
At the heart of the design were gold compote centerpieces, overflowing with lush florals in creamy whites, blush tones, and deep wine hues. Calla lilies, roses, and textured Amaranthus created movement and softness, while trailing elements added an organic, almost undone elegance.
To lean into the “Last Supper” influence in a refined way, we styled the tables with:
Cascading grapes and pears for symbolism and abundance
Soft linen tablecloths and sage-toned napkins
Fluted glass hurricane candles and warm votives for glow
Green wine bottles as water vessels
The Atmosphere
Once the candles were lit and guests arrived, the space transformed. The flow of the lighting mixed with the city skyline and layered florals created an atmosphere that felt both intimate and grand. It was reverent, joyful, and deeply personal, the perfect tone for such a meaningful milestone.
This christening was a reminder of why I love designing events like this, where beauty, symbolism, and emotion all come together. A day to be remembered, styled with Intention from start to finish.
If you’re dreaming up a celebration rooted in meaning but elevated in design, I’d love to help bring it to life.
